The Impact of Digital Microfinance on the Empowerment of Women
ABSTRACT
Despite the rapid growth of digital money, little is known about how it impacts women's empowerment. This study looks at how using
digital microfinance in the Global South affects women's empowerment and socioeconomic outcomes. According to a conceptual
framework, digital microfinance fosters financial and information resources, increasing agency and autonomy, which in turn influences
results and empowerment. Data from twelve nations demonstrates that digital microfinance largely has positive effects on autonomy,
agency, income, and other facets of empowerment. While household decision-making and social standing have unclear effects, income
and agency promote empowerment. Improved data measuring agency, autonomy, and cultural settings are necessary for impactful
initiatives and nuanced understanding (Ahamed Shohel et al., 2021; A. Huis et al., 2017; Sharif Hossain, 2015).
