The increasing global emphasis on sustainability has driven organizations to adopt environmentally responsible practices, leading to the emergence of Green Human Resource Management (Green HRM). In the Indian Information Technology (IT) sector, Green HRM plays a crucial role in integrating eco-friendly policies into human resource functions, such as recruitment, training, performance management, and employee engagement. This study explores the adoption of Green HRM practices in Indian IT companies, identifying the challenges and opportunities associated with their implementation.
Through an in-depth analysis, the research examines the extent to which IT firms incorporate sustainable HRM strategies, the factors influencing adoption, and the barriers such as cost constraints, lack of awareness, and resistance to change. Additionally, it highlights opportunities, including enhanced corporate reputation, employee satisfaction, and regulatory compliance, which can drive the shift toward sustainable HRM. By collecting insights from HR professionals, employees, and industry experts, this study aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of Green HRM adoption in India's IT sector and offer strategic recommendations for effective implementation. The findings contribute to the existing literature on sustainable HRM while guiding policymakers, HR leaders, and IT firms toward a greener and more responsible future.
