Abstract Financial literacy is a crucial determinant of individual well-being, economic empowerment, and inclusive growth. For women, particularly in developing economies like India, financial literacy plays a significant role in enhancing decision-making capacity, financial independence, and participation in economic activities. Despite various governmental and institutional initiatives, disparities in financial literacy persist between urban and rural women. The present study aims to assess and compare the financial literacy levels of urban and rural women in the Bhopal division. The research adopts a conceptual and survey-based approach, using primary data collected from 50 female respondents residing in urban and rural areas of the Bhopal division. Percentage analysis is employed as the primary analytical tool to interpret the data. The findings reveal noticeable differences in awareness, usage, and understanding of financial products and services between urban and rural women. The study highlights the need for targeted financial education programs and policy interventions to bridge the financial literacy gap and promote women’s economic empowerment.
