Africa is a multi-ethnic continent with multicultural groups. The cultures, including traditions, customs, values, ideals, norms, and belief systems, are learned, acquired, and shared among individuals. Obviously, among the ethnic groups in Nigeria are the Edo people, who are emigrants, settled in most of the country as a result of inter-tribal wars before the colonial era, trading, and slavery. Itaogbolu is a significant town in Akure North Local Government, Ondo State, Nigeria, with a strong influence of Edo culture in its social, political, religious, and economic aspects, due to its immigrant population. However, all societies in the world have cultures that differ from one another. Culture is an attribute not only of individuals, but of individuals as members of groups. Cultural identity is a person's background, which constantly reveals and informs one's attachment and sense of belonging to that background. Enculturation also unifies people through the production of shared experiences, such as language, dress, archaeological materials, and, of course, Music. Music is a worldwide phenomenon with innumerable genres categorized into African traditional Music, Western Music, and Music of other world cultures. This paper highlights the historical background of how Edo immigrants in Itaogbolu settled in the town and the socio-cultural usage of Ijigi music to showcase their identity in the community. It was found that, as a result of the prolonged stay of the people in the settlement, there had been a noticeable decline in the cultural Music of the people, which is reflected in the instrumentation, language, and contextual performances.
