At present time, several oxidation systems are combined for the better degradation and mineralization of organic pollutants because a single process generally cannot show a desirable effect for degradation and mineralization of organic pollutants. Therefore, in the current work, the photo-Fenton reagent with singlet molecular oxygen was used to assess the degradation of the dye Evan's blue (EB). The rates of singlet oxygen photo-Fenton (SOPF), photo-Fenton (PF), singlet oxygen (SOP), and photo Fenton (PF) processes have been compared for the photooxidation of EB in an aqueous medium (10°C). The outcomes demonstrate that for Evan's blue, PF is a more efficient photooxidation procedure than SOPF, PF (10°C), and SOP. For the rate of photooxidation, the impact of certain parameters, including pH, the concentration of Fe3+ ions, the concentration of Evan's blue, the amount of H2O2, and light intensity, has been noted. Kinetics for the photochemical oxidation reaction are pseudo-first order. A potential mechanism for the singlet-oxygen-photo-Fenton process has been put forth (SOPF).
