Cardiovascular diseases are the number one cause of death globally; more people die annually from CVDs than from any other cause. Reducing risk factors such as tobacco use [including water pipe smoking], an unhealthy diet, obesity and physical inactivity are the starting point to decrease the burden of CVDs in low, middle and high income countries. India has a high burden of cardiovascular disease, which given the health system, result in high costs incurred to patients, with many of them being unable to afford even the basic preventive medications. Thus, there is need for cost effective measures for controlling cardiovascular disease. Cardiac rehabilitation is one such cost-effective intervention. Despite robust evidence of benefit, endorsement in national and international recommendation, and decades of efforts to improve patients participation, CR is still underutilized internationally. As, the cardiologist have the primary role in patients referral, the aim of the study is to access the knowledge, awareness, attitude of cardiologist towards cardiac rehabilitation and barriers faced by them in referral. A self-made questionnaire was made. Pilot study was done to validate the questionnaire. Validation was done by content validation method by 2 cardiologist and 10 physiotherapists. Permission from ethical committee was taken. Survey was performed using questionnaire and personally it was given to the participants. Total 30 cardiologists are included in the survey. This study concluded that more knowledge and awareness is required among cardiologist towards cardiac rehabilitation.
