COMPARISON OF MUSCLE ENERGY TECHNIQUE AND STRENGTH TRAINING IN IMPROVING KNEE EXTENSION LAG OF TOTAL KNEE REPLACEMENT

Extension lag is a common complication and quality of life damaged in factor of Total Knee Replacement (TKR) patients. Previous studies used Muscle Energy Technique (MET) and Strength training Exercises in TKR patients for short period duration. This study aims to compare the effects of four weeks training of Muscle Energy Technique and Strength Training in improving knee extension lag of TKR. This study took 30 patients with adequate inclusion exclusion criteria and randomly divided into two groups. Group A Received strength training and Group B received MET. The subjects were measured for pain with VAS and for ROM with goniometer before and at the end of fourth week training program. The collected data analysis has been done with paired‘t’ test and unpaired‘t’ test. The results showed that there is significant difference between these two groups and group B showed greater improvement than group A. from the results this study concludes that, four weeks training of Muscle Energy Technique has greater effect on improving Knee Extension Lag of TKR patients.
