Vaginal gels are used in many medical and pharmaceutical applications. These models represent a multifaceted approach to women's health by offering solutions for preventing infections, preventing sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and treating the genital area. This review article has compiled the available literature to provide a comprehensive overview of vaginal gels, focusing on effectiveness, safety, and recent developments. Topics such as user authentication and compliance are also addressed. The review highlights the latest advances in gel technology, such as mucoadhesive and sustained-release formulations, aimed at improving performance and user experience. She also discusses the latest advances in personalized medicine and the microbiome shaping the future of vaginal gel formulations.
