Breeder seed production was carried out for the period from 2015-18 in paddy varieties ADT 43, ADT 42, ADT 38, ADT 3 Blackgram and ADT 3 Greengram at Soil and Water Management Research Station, Kattuthottam, Thanjavur. During the period from 2015-2018 in paddy breeder seed production the variety ADT 43 was distributed to a tune of 60-70% during the year 2014-17 and 40% during the year 2017-18 and 2018-19. In ADT 43 there is reduction in demand and there was increased demand in the variety ADT 42 and ADT (R) 46. Because of the monsoon failure during 2017-18 the demand for ADT 43 was low and the seeds was not lifted for kuruvai production and and grain conversion was done and deposited in TNCSC. In distribution of pulses of BSP during the year 2015-18 there was shortfall in the production of blackgram and green gram during 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2015-16. The Breeder seed production were carried out and seeds distributed, as per the instruction of Breeder seed production communicated from the |Director, CPBG, TNAU, Coimbatore to the SSFs, Agricultural Extension Centres and private seed agencies. The Breeder seed production can be carried out in varieties of farmer’s preference to achieve the target, since the advance received does not coincide with the target for production and supply.
