Color watermarking technique using BTC-PF

Abstract

In the present work, a watermarking technique has been proposed in which a color watermark is embedded into a grayscale image. In the embedding process, first the host image is decomposed by wavelet transform and the middle frequency sub bands are selected to embed the watermark. The RGB color planes of the watermark are transformed into O1O2O3 planes. The transformed planes and the selected sub-bands are encoded by BTC-PF method. For each block, BTC-PF method returns gray levels and an index of the selected pattern. To enhance the security level, encoded information of the watermark is permuted randomly. The gray levels of the sub-bands are modified with the permuted gray levels of the watermark. The sub-bands are reconstructed with the modified gray levels and indices of the watermark. A watermarked image is produced by applying inverse wavelet transform. The experimental result shows that the proposed watermark technique is robust against different type of attacks, like blurring, motion blurred, salt-pepper noise, Gaussian filter, cropping, rotation and JPEG compression with varying quality.
