Abstract: 3D printing is a method of rapid prototyping and production where the materials are incorporated into one another to produce a three-dimensional object. Although 3D printing was developed in the 1980s and technology has gained widespread application in the manufacturing industry from automotive parts to machine tools, its use in the medical field is still limited. However, the power of 3D printing in the pharmaceutical industry is now recognized. The ability of 3D printing to produce specific drugs tailored to the needs of each patient has shown the possibility of developing personalized drugs. The technology allows volume forms to be accurately printed in shapes, sizes and textures that are difficult to produce using traditional techniques. However, there are various challenges associated with the proper use of 3D printing in the medical field that must be overcome in order to make the most of this technology. In this review, an overview of the various 3D printing technologies used to create complex dosage forms and their feasibility and limitations is provided. In this project work, the design and development of an integrated Cartesian 3D printer is made into sample parts using the Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) process. Fused Deposition Modeling is an advanced manufacturing process that uses thermoplastics, ABS, Poly Vinyl Alcohol (PVA), polycarbonate (PC), PLA (Poly Lactic Acid)
