The qualitative and quantitative estimation of drug play major role in safety and efficacy of drug product. A complete literature survey is most essential requirements for Hypertension. Chlorthalidone inhibit Sodium-Chloride Cotransporter at distal convoluted tubule of nephron. This inhibition altered reabsorption of osmotic gradient which results in increase sodium excretion and extra cellular fluid volume. This leads to reduction in high blood pressure. Chlorthalidone was approved by U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2011. Since effort has been made in the present review to collect all relevant literature published in various pharmaceutical journals for estimation of Chlorthalidone in different matrices both individual and in combination of drug with other drugs. The review summarized the basic and advanced techniques for estimating chlorthalidone. From different method HPLC and U.V Visible Spectrophotometry are most widely used techniques applied by researchers. Detailed validation parameters are also given for the methods, which assists the researchers to select an analytical technique based on the information sought.
