Abstract

Mr. Karthikeyan 35 years old male got admitted with the complaints of severe headache, right eye irritation, swelling and numbness on right side of the face since 10 days and sudden weight loss, fatigue since 15 days. He was not a known case of diabetes mellitus but newly diagnosed as type II diabetes mellitus with his random sugar level 643 mg / dl. Immediately CT brain was taken which reveals that, Right ethmoidal sinusitis with erosion of floor of right orbit and soft tissue edema over right side of the nose. No obvious lesion seen in cavernous sinus. He underwent FESS and debridement done, biopsy was taken and sent for examination which shows that Mucormycosis invasive type fungal infection. Patient treated with amphotericin B.
