The synthesis of 2-{4-(1H Benzimidazole-2yl) phenyl imino}-2-hydroxy-4-methoxy benzaldehyde with Cu (II) metal complex was achieve. A 4-(1H Benzimidazole-2yl) aniline is synthesized by equimolar quantities of o-phenylenediamine and p-aminobenzoic acid with absolute alcohol. This further treated with 2-hydroxyl-4-methoxy benzaldehyde to form 2-{4-(1H Benzimidazole-2yl) phenyl imino}-2-hydroxy-4-methoxy benzaldehyde. A Cu (II) metal complex was prepared by dissolving equimolar quantities of metal salt and Schiff base ligand in ethanol. All target compounds were characterized by M.P., TLC, UV-Visible and NMR and tested for antimicrobial activity in sterile saline by agar disk diffusion method against Escherichia Coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans. All synthesized compound has shown good to moderate antimicrobial activity.
