Abstract:
Street space is part of public space that is not only used as a circulation space but also as an interaction space in which formal activities and informal activities occur. The attractiveness of both often poses serious socio-cultural issues, but in a positive context it is a force that can be the life-force of a city. Commercial activity as a formal activity invites informal activities actors occupying some of the road space as a vehicle parking, street foods, and a place to gather or socialize. Dipatiukur Street was chosen as a case study study because it is located in a commercial area that is always crowded by informal activities along the street. Data collection are done thoroughly on the street space include spatial road order, activities occuring in the street space, and the behavior of road users in utilizing the street space as a public space. The research was conducted by qualitative method to know the effect of informality to function of street space as circulation and interaction space. The result
