The final from of the poem appeared in 1717 with the addition of ‘Clarissa’ speech on good humour. The poem was much translated and contributed to the growing popularity of mock-heroic in Europe. ‘The Rape of the Lock’ is important because it is an excellent example of well written Satire. It focuses on themes that are important to society even today, such as obsession with physical appearance and exaggeration of trivial matters. There are many ways by which Pope’s this epic masterpiece have been showcased, through drama, paintings and art.
