The demand of electricity goes on increasing every day due to increase in standardization of human life. At present situation every social activity depends on electricity. All transportation sector applications also depends on electricity in coming days due to shortage petrol and diesel and uncontrolled prices. The gap between generation and demand widening every day. It makes more challenging to electrical engineers to design power system to overcome present difficulties. The researchers are focusing on energy saving techniques rather than installation of new generation plants. The energy saving can also be achieved through the using efficient energy meter or efficient prepaid electricity billing system. This paper mainly focuses on RFID based prepaid electricity billing system.
