QR Code, Marketing, Modules, Security
QR Codes (2D barcodes) are used to encode and decode data at a rapid rate. Using camera phones to read two dimensional barcodes for various purposes is currently a popular topic in both research and in practical applications. There is a lot of brouhaha about QR codes and they are seen as the next big thing in electronic marketing. These little black-and-white puzzle-like square matrix's originally designed for the automotive industry populate ads and promotional posters, are meant to drive in smart phone users. This paper aims at understanding what these codes are, how they work, what they can do, the security threats posed by them and how to contain these threats.
