The Fabaceae family contains important medicinal plant Desmodium gangeticum, a erect or climbing shrub that is mostly utilized in Indian traditional medicinal system and other subcontinental nations. Its main ingredients, gangetin, hordenine, and desmodin, are responsible for its wide range of pharmacological actions, which include immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic, antioxidant, and cardioprotective properties. The properties of the plant's roots, bark, and aerial parts can be used to cure a variety of conditions, including lumbago, fever, diarrhea, and cough. Geographically, Desmodium gangeticum mostly found in subtropical and tropical climates; is cultivated extensively for traditional use in various places, especially in the lower Himalayan regions and the Gangetic plains. Its natural habitat is in Asia, Tropical Africa, and Australia, its medicinal virtues are the main reason for its great demand.
