At present, waste management is the main challenging issue for sustainability of our world. Biogas production mainly occurs through anaerobic digestion of organic matter, which is an eco-friendly process. This process involves the breakdown of organic matter in the absence of oxygen resulting in the production of biogas. It is a mixture primarily composed of methane (CH4) & carbon dioxide (CO2). The preparation includes collection of raw organic matter, pre-processing (size reduction or mixing), and digestion in an air-tight container (Biogas Reactor) under absence of direct sunlight. The anaerobic digestion takes approximately 30-60 days. The energy generated can be used for cooking, production of energy as electricity. It can also replace compressed natural gas (CNG) for use in vehicles. This technology promotes renewable energy, managing waste & reducing green house gas emissions.
