Abstract

The Alchemist is a famous novel by Paulo Coehlo. It is a remarkable novel. It focuses on how we pursue the dream. It has been translated into many languages. Millions of copies have been sold worldwide. He is great Brazilian novelist. The present novel is written in Portuguese. The Alchemist is a narrative or allegorical novel. It is translated into many languages and became bestseller novels. It is a journey of Santiago, an Andalusian shepherd boy. The boy begins his journey in the find of treasure. In the end, he met an alchemist who made him realize his true self. He had dreamt and he always followed the dream. The boy is a shepherd and he wanted to get the treasure in his life. He is a poor boy but he has summoned the courage to pursue his dream. He faces lots of problems through his journey. In the entire novel, he travels and followed his dream. In fact, he is a brave boy because he wants to live his life in accordance with his ways. The boy is a significant character. The story revolves around the boy. Whenever he had slept near a tree in an abandoned church, he had a dream. He wanted to follow his dream. A child tells him that he would search a treasure in the Pyramids of Egypt. He thinks that the message is from the divine. For his dream, for his treasure, the boy sold his flocks and starts his journey towards Tangier by boat. When he reached to Tangier, a man met him and he tells him that I shall take you to the pyramids but he robbed all his money. He has no other option and he decided to work there in a crystal shop. He wanted to earn some money for his journey. The crystal merchant taught him several lessons. The boy motivated the merchant to take risk. The merchant told him that if I get lose I my business, you are the responsible for this but the boy became success and he earned sufficient money for starts his journey.
