This review explores recent advancements in breast imaging technologies, emphasizing the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging imaging modalities. Breast cancer remains a major cause of morbidity and mortality among women, necessitating improved diagnostic accuracy. Key imaging techniques include Automated Breast Ultrasound (ABUS), Contrast-Enhanced Mammography (CEM), Molecular Breast Imaging (MBI), and Positron Emission Mammography (PEM). ABUS offers automated, standardized imaging, enhancing detection in women with dense breasts. CEM, using contrast agents, boosts sensitivity for identifying tumors missed by traditional mammography. MBI provides insights into the metabolic activity of breast lesions, while PEM combines positron emission tomography with mammography for better tumors localization. Hybrid technologies like PET-CT and PET-MRI offer both anatomical and functional data, improving detection and treatment planning. AI is transforming breast imaging by assisting radiologists in lesion identification, enhancing accuracy, and reducing errors. The review also discusses challenges in clinical implementation and the potential of AI to revolutionize breast cancer diagnostics for improved outcomes .
