Dental diseases, affecting millions globally, necessitate innovative, patient-compliant treatments. Mucoadhesive patches have emerged as a promising therapeutic strategy, emerging targeted drug delivery with enhanced bioavailability. This review comprehensively explores the cutting-edge realm of mucoadhesive patches in dental disease management, focusing on their potential in preventing and treating conditions such as periodontitis, oral candidiasis, and tooth hypersensitivity. Recent advancements in patch design, biomaterials, and controlled-release mechanisms are critically evaluated, alongside in vitro, in vivo, and clinical studies demonstrating efficacy and safety. Expert insights into optimization of patch formulation, adherence, and patient acceptance are also provided. By integrating materials science, pharmaceutical technology, and dental expertise, this review light up the transformative potential of mucoadhesive patches in revolutionizing oral healthcare.
