The COVID-19 epidemic posed unprecedented challenges for the global financial sector, significantly impacting non-performing assets (NPAs) in banks. This research focuses on the Bank of Maharashtra (BoM), a prominent public sector bank in India, to evaluate its NPA trends and recovery strategies during and post-COVID. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, the study combines quantitative analysis of historical financial data with qualitative insights from interviews with bank managers and staff. Key findings reveal a reduction in NPAs attributed to proactive measures, including loan restructuring, policy adjustments, and enhanced risk management practices. The study highlights the resilience of BoM amidst the pandemic and provides actionable lessons for policymakers and the banking sector to strengthen crisis preparedness and ensure sustainable financial stability.
