The defense relations between India and Bangladesh since 1971 have evolved through a complex interplay of historical events, political changes, and strategic necessities. Over the decades, the partnership adapted to address emerging security concerns, including cross-border terrorism, border management, and regional stability amidst geopolitical shifts. However, challenges such as internal strife, external influences, and logistical issues have tested the resilience of this alliance. This paper posits that the historical context, characterized by mutual recognition of security interests and commitment to collaboration, has been crucial in shaping the defense relationship between India and Bangladesh. Understanding this evolution not only sheds light on the dynamics of bilateral relations but also emphasizes the importance of ongoing defense cooperation in ensuring regional peace and security in South Asia.
