A study on water issues and challenges among Karbong tribe of Tripura

The water scarcity is one of the most critical issues and challenges faced by many residents in the hamlets of Tripura particularly in the hilly parts. This paper aims to study about the water issues and challenges faced by the Karbong Tribe in Tripura. In the past no attempts has been made to study on the water issues and challenges faced by the Karbong tribe in Tripura. This present work focuses on the water issues and challenges faced by the Karbong Tribe in Tripura. It would provide the exploratory analysis on the water issues and challenges in the Karbong community. The methodology that is used to carry out this research work is purely based on primary data. Based on a field survey conducted in the study area the researchers have collected the data from 20 households. The field study revealed that the Karbong mainly depended on hand pump and water supply for their domestic requirements. The study also revealed that the contained of iron in the water and irregular water supply due to frequent electric cut off is the major issues and challenges that the Karbong faced.
