Abstract

This project is based on deep machine learning to perform automatic segmentation of liver cancer cases depicted in computed tomography (CT) images. The segmentation results obtained through this approach were then compared to those generated using atlas-based automatic segmentation. A U-Net neural network with an encoder-decoder architecture was developed. The deep ANN (Artificial Neural Network) that underwent training successfully conducted automatic segmentation of CT images for 36 instances of liver cancer.
