Abstract:
Background: The study consists of estimation of Total Flavonoid Content, Total Phenolic Content and Assessment of in vitro Antioxidant Activity of Extracts of bark of plant Albizia lebbeck (L.) Benth. Leaves by using various in-vitro methods. Materials and Methods: In this study the Total Flavonoid Content, Total Phenolic Content, Antioxidant activity of aqueous, methanolic and hydroalcoholic extract of bark of the plant Albizia lebbeck (L.) Benth. was evaluated by Folin–Ciocalteau reagent, Aluminium chloride, 2,2-diphenyl-1,1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging, Nitric oxide radical scavenging assay, Hydrogen peroxide and reducing assay methods and compared. Result and Discussion: The result indicated that methanolic extract of the leaves of plant exhibited potent antioxidant activity as compared to hydroalcoholic and aqueous extract with reference to Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) as standard. Conclusion: The present estimation and assessment showed that the plant Albizia lebbeck (L.) Benth. used as potential antioxidant activity with maximum concentration of Total Flavonoid and Total Phenolic Content.
