Abstract: The concept of Atmanirbhar Bharat, or self-reliant India, has gained significant attention in recent times. The Indian government has identified this as a key initiative towards empowering the country and making it economically self-sufficient. Atmanirbhar Bharat or Self-reliant India has been a recurring theme in the recent economic policies of the Indian government. The concept of self-reliance in India can be traced back to the country's struggle for independence, which emphasized the need for the country to rely on its own resources and become self-sufficient. The idea was later adopted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a means to make India a global economic power. Atmanirbhar Bharat aims to create an ecosystem in which India can produce, manufacture and export goods that meet global standards. The idea is to reduce dependence on foreign imports, boost local production and create more job opportunities for the citizens of the country. However, the implementation of this program faces several challenges. This study aims to identify and examine the challenges faced by the Indian government in implementing Atmanirbhar Bharat and explore potential solutions to overcome them. The study utilizes a qualitative research approach and data was collected from various sources including government reports, news articles, and interviews with experts. The findings highlight several challenges including insufficient resources, lack of infrastructure, inadequate coordination among stakeholders, and inadequate policy framework. The study proposes potential solutions such as strengthening collaborations with the private sector, investing in research and development, and enhancing infrastructure capabilities to aid in the implementation of the Atmanirbhar Bharat program. These solutions offer potential pathways to mitigate the identified challenges and pave the way for the effective implementation of Atmanirbhar Bharat in India.
