Abstract: The ever-changing dynamics of the market, as well as the growth of the economy, have each played a role in the rise in popularity of conducting one's buying activities online. Consumers' preferences and shopping patterns have shifted as a direct result of the proliferation of e-commerce, which has led to these changes. E-commerce technology is increasingly being utilized by well-known companies as a method for increasing product sales, and this pattern is forecasted to continue in the foreseeable future. Because of the emergence of e-commerce, conducting business has become significantly more streamlined, expeditious, fast, and easy. This is something that no one can reasonably dispute. His techniques are advantageous, not only to the seller but also to the purchaser. Because we are all aware, trade and industry are the cornerstones upon which the growth of a nation is constructed; as a result, the incorporation of electronic technology and tools, such as e-commerce, into their operations would do wonders for the growth of the economy of the nation. Without internet purchasing, e-commerce would not be where it is at this point in time. It is to the advantage of all parties involved, notably the buyer and the seller, and this advantage might take numerous forms. In India, there has been a significant rise in the number of people using both the technology that enables e-commerce and the behavior of conducting one's buying activities online. These technologies have been utilized by practically every major organization in existence on the planet at the present time in order to increase sales and promote their brand across the entirety of the planet. According to the findings of a recent poll, the number of Indian consumers interested in completing their shopping online saw a 128% year-over-year growth in 2012 when compared to the previous year. According to the findings of a study that was carried out and then presented by Google and TNS Australia, the expansion that took place between the years 2010 and 2011 was just forty percent. Data from a sample survey that was carried out in November 2012 with 800 participants and data from Google Trends were used into the study. Consumer electronics (34%) and apparel and accessories (30%) were the two categories that people were most interested in purchasing. 15 percent of all internet searches conducted by Indians were related to books, followed by 10 percent of searches related to beauty and personal care, 6 percent of searches related to homes and furnishings, 2 percent of searches related to baby products, and 3 percent of searches related to healthcare. This article is an attempt to investigate recent trends, effects, and preferences of customers toward e-commerce and online shopping, as well as to provide suggestions for improving websites that are dedicated to online shopping. Additionally, this article will provide some background information on e-commerce and online shopping.
