The present aim of this study was to develop the GRDDS (Gastro Retentive Drug Delivery System) to increase the floating time as well as to maintain the drug content in the blood for a longer period of time. The microballoons of Benidipine Hydrochloride were prepared by Emulsion Solvent Diffusion using Eudragit RS100 and Eudragit S100 as the coating Polymer. The micromeretics property of the microballoons shows satisfactory results. The prepared batches of the microballoons were then tested for the various parameters in which the microballoons showed good drug entrapment value of 77.28 %, the % buoyancy was found to be 84.25%, the % yield was found to be 90.41. The % Cumulative Drug Release profile showed that the prepared microballoons have a sustained drug release actions of more than 24 hours as the drug release percentage was 83.51% in 24 hours. 1:1 mixture of ethanol and bThe floating time of the microballoons was found to be more than 8 hours. The batch B2 was concluded as optimum because it showed the maximum drug content, more floating time and the more sustained release effect.
