Abstract: Air Conditioning is defined as the process of treating air to control simultaneously its temperature, humidity, cleanliness, distribution and noise to meet the requirements of the conditioned space. The purpose of Air Conditioning is to serve two primary applications. These include: • The promotion of human physical well being • The improvement of industrial processes. Central heating and cooling systems use an air distribution or duct system to circulate heated and/or cooled air to all the conditioned rooms in a house. Properly designed duct systems can maintain uniform temperatures throughout the house, efficiently and quietly. Air-distribution systems include air handlers, ductwork, and associated components for heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning buildings. They provide fresh air to maintain adequate indoor-air quality while providing conditioned air to offset heating or cooling loads. Their many components need to operate in unison to properly maintain desired conditions. Successful air distribution is measured both by its thermal comfort performance and its energy efficiency. The objectives of good duct design are occupant comfort, proper air distribution, economical heating and cooling system operation, and economical duct installation. The project demonstrates the design of such air distribution system in a residential building project for supplying the cooling requirements based on the heat load design. The project mainly focuses on the Modelling aspects of the ducting system using the latest 3D software well known as REVIT. REVIT works on the concept of BIM-Building Information Modelling to design, coordinate and apply technology to derive easy and fast solutions. The outcome of this project would a 3D design showing all the components of the air distributing ducting system.
