Abstract

This paper presents solution for the Economic Load dispatch (ELD) problem considering valve point loading on fuel cost function using cuckoo search algorithm(CSA). The main objective of the ELD problem is to minimize the fuel cost for meeting the power demand considering valve loading effect, generator limits, Power balance constrain without considering transmission losses. The cuckoo search is heuristic search algorithm which is inspired by the reproduction strategy of cuckoos. The advantage of cuckoo search method is few control parameters, high solution quality and fast computational time.
