Abstract: Transparency is a key feature of good governance as well as a sign of true and inclusive democracy. In a democratic state each citizen is like a stakeholder. They must have the right to know what is happening in the government. For Making Indian democracy more inclusive, all citizens should be included in the political process. The RTI Act gave every citizen to right to know what is happening in the society as well as in governmental process. RTI Act was passed in 2005 by Indian legislature to strengthening the democratic ethos of country.Every citizen must know about the procedure and proper use of RTI Act for attaining the same goal.Thispaper is a modest attempt to study the awareness of procedure involved to use RTI among college students. The paper also tries to analyse and compare the level of awareness about RTI Act among these students.The data has been collected through structured questionnaire from 150 college students studying in three Govt. colleges in Gurgaon. The study findings indicates that students are aware about RTI and they are less concerned with its proper use. The study revealed that there is significant difference between Gender and level of awareness about RTI Act. The study also observed that there is significant difference between locality and level of awareness about RTI Act.
