In 2021, %34.5 of the individuals committing suicide were aged 18-30. 13,039 of them were students. In 2021, Mumbai recorded the fourth largest number of deaths by suicide among cities in India. Extant literature is divided over place as a factor in student suicide. The construct of urbanism sees place as an ensemble of unique situations that shape behaviour of individuals within. Taking a phenomenological approach, this study identified and analyzed the unique situation/s in Mumbai that explains student suicide.
