Gas pipelines are employed in the transportation of gases in cities, oil refineries and various other industries. Any damages to these pipelines lead to subsequent leakages which may lead to catastrophic consequences for the safety of humans involved and also to industries. Thus the safety and maintenance of this system of pipelines is of utmost importance. In this regard, the project titled “Robot for Under Pipeline Gas Leakage Detection” is proposed. An innovative Mobile Robot is proposed that traverses through pipelines checking for any damages that cause leakages. Ultrasonic sensor is integrated to the Mobile Robot. This sensor is programmed to determine the distance between the mobile robot and obstacle (in this case, the walls of the pipeline) and to control the motion of the robot and to detect the location of the leakage in the pipeline. The Mobile Robot will stop at the position as any damage is detected and the sensor will determine the location where the pipe is damaged and a buzzer alerts the admin that a leakage point had been discovered. Furthermore, the Mobile Robot also sends the data containing the location of leak to the admin.
