Abstract: The increasing awareness of glass recycling speeds up inspections on the use of waste glass with different forms in various fields. One of its significant contribution is to the construction sector where the waste glass was reused for value-added concrete production. Literature survey indicates that the uses of waste glass as aggregates in concrete was first reported over 50 years ago.In the present scenario the construction cost as scarcity of sand is increasing day by day in order to counteract this problem, sand is partially replace by glass waste material. Glass waste is recycled for the production of new material which can be used as alternative component in concrete and is on of the best solution for disposing of Glass waste. Also this techniques proves to be highly cost effective than conventional method. In this experimental investigation we replace the natural river sand by using the Glass waste which is recycling from PET or PP waste. Partial replacement of sand by Glass waste material is done with M40 grade of concrete. Glass waste where used to replace 0%, 15%,30%,45% of natural river sand in the concrete mixes and tested after 28 days for compressive strength, tensile strength, flexural strength and modified density of concrete. The experiment revealed that the partial replacement of Glass waste material can be done to a limit of 20% to 40% for the satisfactory properties of concrete which is acceptable limit for the constructional purpose in the civil industry.
Keywords: Glass recycling, waste glass, replace, disposing, scarcity, strength, density.
